Phuket, Phuket TownThe Gallery Café, the best café in Phuket Town

As one of the coolest islands in Thailand, Phuket is not short of cafés and coffee shops. And the Gallery Cafe is one of my all time favourites.

As Co-founder of the smoothie bowls company, NanaBowls I spend much of my time on the island so I know it well.

There are three Gallery Café locations on the island, each with their own unique feel and quirky style.

They all have a diverse menu, with a full range of all-day breakfasts, healthy vegan options, fresh juices, cosy comfort food dishes and also a Thai food menu too. If you are heading here for a holiday or for travelling then you will be spoilt for choice.

The space

Each café location has a unique ambiance. The original Gallery Café is in Phuket Town set amongst the bustling streets of the old town – with traditional Thai architecture and the most beautiful courtyard.

The outdoor area is my favourite spot to sit and eat as the afternoon sunlight pours in.

It’s the perfect place to grab a matcha latte, catch up with a friend over lunch, or just somewhere to watch the world go by if you need some inspiration on a laptop kind of day. It has free wi-fi and plug sockets too.

The little things that make a difference

The Gallery Café has free wifi too, which is a big hit for all the digital nomads around here. The owner Pinky is always around with a big friendly smile on her face!

The fresh juice test

Gallery Café offers a mix and max option for their juices, so you can literally create any juice you like from a wide choice of fruits and veg. I went for a fruit-free green juice, which included celery, cucumber, lemon and ginger.

It might sound ‘too green’ but it was honestly delicious.

Another favourite is a their beetroot, apple and ginger juice – so refreshing and packed with goodness.

What I ate

I always go for their buddha bowl. It’s packed with rainbow quinoa, kidney beans, fresh avocado, broccoli, cauliflower, beetroot and sweet potato. I went with my friend who got their accurately named rainbow salad – it’s literally like eating the rainbow! It’s filled with cucumber, carrot, raw cabbage, beetroot, sweet corn, feta, avocado, smoked salmon, a poached egg and a delicious olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette.

We also shared their beetroot salad which is super light and and refreshing.

Think fresh beetroot slices with a sprinkling of feta cheese, tangerine segments, fresh mint leaves and roasted crushed almonds. Such a delicious combo of flavours and textures.

For those of you that like to keep things classic, they also offer a vegetarian English breakfast plate. The roasted veggies that come with it are seriously delicious!

For dessert, we had our Nana Bowls. These are protein smoothie bowls served across Phuket. They’re dairy and gluten-free, high in protein, vegan friendly, don’t contain any added sugars (not even dates or honey) and they’re 100% natural.

They’re just as thick and creamy as ice cream! I went for the Peanut Butter Salted Caramel and my friend went for the Roseberry Coconut.

What else

Gallery Café also have their own bakery where they make their own breads and cakes fresh every single day.
