At Glowcation HQ, we love to start the day with a vitamin packed açai bowl.

Laced with superfoods and anti-oxidants, these Brazilian pick me up bowls are not only Instagrammable, but totally delicious.

The purple açai berry comes from the açai palm tree in Central and South America. It became a favourite for surfers and fitness fanatics in Brazil in the 1990s until it became a craze in Hawaii and Southern California.

Now it’s spread to Europe. They don’t just contain anti-oxidants though, the South American super berries are also full of fibre, calcium and heart healthy fats.

Here are our favourite 4 suggestions for an açai fix in London.

Bodyism, Notting Hill

Bodyism  offers 4 açai Bowls – Lean On Me, Beautiful Me, Nourish Me and Energise Me. All can be upgraded with a signature Bodyism supplement or an extra superfood.

We recommend the ‘Nourish Me’ bowl- it looks too pretty to eat and comes with a generous sprinkling of nuts, fresh berries and cacao nibs.

It costs £8.50.

Carmel By The Green, Bethnal Green

Carmel By The Green is a Californian inspired, healthy café with a laid-back beach vibe in East London.

The focus is on clean, healthy, simple eating and combining superfoods and organic produce.

Their signature açai bowl is generous sized and topped with sliced banana, chia seeds, cacao nibs, goji berries, coconut flakes and granola – £6.50.

Dayrooms Cafe, Notting Hill and Holborn

The Dayrooms Cafe has 2 branches one in Notting Hill, and the other in Holborn. The owners, Aytun Mehdiyeva and Zumrud Mammadova, have created an Australian-style oasis serving freshly made, delicious and beautiful food.

Their Boa Vida açai bowl with seasonal toppings is one of London’s most Instagrammable and tastiest.

When we visited, the £7.50 seasonal bowl was a work of art topped with chia seeds, coconut, goji berries, banana and edible flowers.

Farm Girl, Chelsea and Notting Hill

The hugely popular Farm Girl serve their delicious Açai Bowl at both branches.

They use organic frozen Amazonian berries, frozen banana and almond milk topped with fruit and chia seeds £8.00 (+ almond butter £1.50 and granola £3.00).
