Plant Power Food’s mission statement is “We want to save our environment right now! – at the same time, we want to eat the healthiest diet possible.”

Our verdict on this passionate, plant-powered Copenhagen hotspot is they certainly carry it out … and with style.

The setting

Plant Power Food is in Nørrebro. A vibrant urban area packed with cafés, cool shops and pretty painted houses. Our tip is to explore by bike.

The space

Plant Power Food is light, minimalist and cosy.  The large space uses second hand furniture stylishly and you order at the counter. We loved the pretty pastel coloured china.

The little things that make a difference

Their major zero waste credentials.

The café rigorously compost, recycle and only use their dishwasher when it’s full.

They turn off the lights when they’re not needed and all straws are made from corn. Plus, their toilet paper is recycled milk cartons. We were seriously impressed.

The fresh juice test

Plant Power Food has a smoothie bar. There’s a choice of four smoothie juices. We had the Fast Nova a fruity mix of banana, raspberry, blueberry, beetroot ginger and apple. There’s also a Green Health, the Juicy Green Boost and a Good Morning Juice. Plus, there’s a tempting selection of non-alcoholic cocktails. We tried the Cranberry Dream a zingy, refreshing combo of cranberry juice and kefir water with blueberries, cranberries and fresh mint.

What we ate

There’s an inspiring menu We chose the avo open sandwich. It was a delicious concoction of sliced avocado on a base of sweet potato spread, served on rye bread, then dressed with tahini, cress, roasted nuts and balsamic pearls.

We also had the Mung Bean Miso which consisted of mung bean noodles in a warm miso soup with ginger, broccoli and dehydrated portobello mushrooms.

It was  topped with cherry tomatoes, daicon, coriander, roasted nuts and shiso cress. Everything was stunningly plated.

What we’d go back for…
